Huntington Harbour Boat Parade & Cruise of Lights

This weekend, pour some hot chocolate in a thermos, break out the hats & scarves and head on over to Huntington Beach Harbour Boat Parade. The parade takes place Saturday, December 12th & Sunday, December 13th at 5:15pm & will feature approximately 70 decorated boats. The Huntington Harbour Boat Parade takes place near the Peters Landing Marina at PCH & 25th Street. For the parade route & approximate viewing times & locations go HERE.

But, that's not the end of the festivities. The parade of decorated boats may only last for two days, but you can continue to view all the beautiful lights & decorated homes during the Philharmonic Cruise of Lights Boat Tour. Everyday, Thursday, December 17th - Wednesday, December 23rd (5:30 -9pm), you can purchase tickets to ride aboard "narrated boat tours through the waterways of Huntington Harbour to view hundreds of brightly decorated homes, docks, decks & boats." The ticket price helps support youth and music programs. For more information go HERE.

Huntington Beach Duck-A-Thon

This weekend (Friday, May 15th - Sunday, May 17th) is Huntington Beach's 17th Annual Duck-A-Thon. It's an incredible weekend filled with "sand, sun, surf, food and rubber duckies," which raises money for AltaMed's Huntington Beach Community Clinic. The weekend's events include...
The Duck-A-Thon begins Friday evening with a Sunset Wine Tasting at the Pier. This beautiful setting provides as a wonderful kick-off for the weekend. Local restaurants supply an array of tantalizing hors d’oeuvres while wineries from across California donate boutique wines that are poured all evening.

The actual Duck-A-Thon takes place all day Saturday & Sunday. Vendors line Huntington Beach Pier Plaza to sell arts & crafts, yummy treats, home décor, jewelry and much more.

A larger – than – life Children’s Area includes bounce houses, retired rubber duck decorating, games, a toddler’s zone and prizes!

Each year, the Duck-A-Thon has a new theme for the ducks and the overall event. Honoring Huntington Beach’s Centennial, we feature the 2009 Birthday Ducks! These little yellow quackers are hand-decorated with party hat, gift, and a birthday greeting, for $20 each.
If you want to participate in the "main event" (which happens on Saturday at 3pm), the Duck Festival, you can still buy your Rubber Ducks online HERE. Ducks may also be purchased on Race day from 9am until approximately 2pm at the Huntington Beach Pier. Otherwise, you can always just watch from the beach as thousands of little rubber duckies are dropped from the pier to race to shore & claim their prizes.

For more information regarding the Duck-A-Thon go HERE.

Spark Woodfire Grill

Recently, the hubby & I were able to spend a quiet evening together at one of our favorite restaurants, Spark Woodfire Grill.
Located in Huntington Beach, Spark offers one of the most incredible panoramic view of the ocean, pier & beach, and their food is delicious. The restaurant "specializes in the woodfire grilling and roasting of Prime or Certified Angus Beef hand-cut steaks, chops, seafood, and slowly roasted Iowa BBQ Baby Back ribs using only the freshest 'Prime' and 'Choice' graded meats and seafood available... Spark is a warm and comfortable casual upscale restaurant that offers simply prepared foods, an extensive wine list and a full bar."

My favorite menu items? The Maryland Blue Crab Cakes are incredible! The Roasted Corn Chowder is delicious. I'm still dreaming of the Filet Oscar (filet medallions served with asparagus, lump crab and Bearnaise sauce), & I ate all of my Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding.

If you're planning ahead, call for a reservation & request a table out on the heated terrace... the view is wonderful.... the perfect romantic evening.
