Kids Eat Free at Jerry's Dogs

Let me get this off my chest... I LOVE hot dogs. Phew! I feel better. It doesn't matter if they roasted over a bonfire, purchased at a ball game or eaten at Costco - I just love hot dogs. So it should come as no surprise that I LOVE Jerry's Wood-Fired Dogs. What's not to love? An entire menu filled with specialty hot dogs, sausages & burgers (& maybe a salad or too). Not to mention, over 30 fixings & fresh toppings to finish off your dog, sausage of burger.

But now, there's even more to love at Jerry's Wood-Fired Dogs. On Mondays & Tuesday nights from 4-9pm kids eat FREE (ages 12 & under). That's right, when you buy an dog, sausage or burger combo you will get a kids combo FREE.

Avila's El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant

I've already posted about my love for Avila's El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant. Everything we order is delicious, & you have to be careful - their warm tortilla chips & salsa can definitely fill you up. On a recent trip we discovered their "appetizer special"... a combination of "bite sized, tacos, taquitos & chingolingas". Yum! Yum! Yum! But I'm digressing here... the real reason I'm posting about Avila's El Ranchito Mexican Restaurant is because I just realized that their Santa Ana location offers "KIDS EAT FREE" on Wednesday nights after 4pm. Yep! Yep! One free kids meal per adult entree ordered. I haven't yet been able to confirm if this deal is available at any of the other 10 locations, but you just might want to check.

Pat & Oscar's

If you've never been to Pat & Oscar's, it is definitely a "family place". The menu has everything from pizza & pasta, to salad, chicken, ribs, & my personal favorite part of the meal... bread sticks. They even have complete "meals" available for one, two or four. The food is pretty tasty (especially those bread sticks I mentioned earlier), the prices are pretty reasonable, & most importantly... for a family with little ones, the service is quick!

Every Tuesday night at Pat & Oscar's kids eat FREE. El Torito

I don't know where I've been, obviously hiding under a rock, but I just found out that Kids Eat FREE on Wednesdays at El Torito. (The small print reads: one free kid's meal from our kid's menu per regular adult entree purchased. Limited to children 12 & under. Not valid with any other offer, discount or coupon. Good for dine in only.) It looks like we might be headed to El Torito this week, I've always loved their cornbread. Find your nearest El Torito location HERE.

& on a totally random note, did you know you can buy those fabulous El Torito tortilla strips for your own "home use". & it's cheap! Less than $3 for a big 'ole bag, & they're are so yummy... perfect for soups & salads.

Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest Cafe is one of those places that I'm always forgetting about. We've probably been there a dozen times, & every time I go I think to myself, "I've really got to remember this place." It's not that the food is excellent (although it's really not that bad, and their menu is HUGE, so there really is something for everyone), but what always amazes me, whenever we dine at the Rainforest Cafe, is how much fun our family has. Seriously, where else can you eat inside a rainforest? My kids get a kick out of all the sights & sounds that surround us at the Rainforest Cafe... a life-sized gorilla pounding on his chest, a trumpeting elephant, exotic birds singing, cool mists floating through the air, while thunder rolls in the distance & a huge aquarium full of tropical fish - all of which keeps my little ones thoroughly entertained for the entire meal.

Oh! & I nearly forgot... the best night to check out the Rainforest Cafe? Wednesday nights after 5pm. Why? Because that's the night that kids eat for just $1.99 (South Coast Plaza & Ontario Mills locations only), with the purchase of an adult entree.

The Beach Pit BBQ

One of our favorite new-to-me restaurants is The Beach Pit BBQ. As their web-site describes it they are "Southern Smoke, California Style". It's a half-service restaurant, which I always love, because you can get good, restaurant quality food, with fast-food convenience. They have 2 & 1/2 locations to serve you (Costa Mesa, Tustin Garage & Angel Stadium). The menu has all your typical BBQ "fix'ns". I prefer "The Salad" with pulled pork, hubby loves the Pulled Pork plate with sweet potato fries, & the kids love the Chicken Beach Bites. Be sure to check out their specials too:

Fish House Market & Grill

One of our favorite family-friendly restaurants is the Fish House Market & Grill in Orange. It's a half-service restaurant (meaning you order at the counter, & then they bring the food out to you), so it tends to be pretty quick - which helps if you have little ones in tow. They feature homemade clam chowder, great sandwiches & wraps, fish & chips, full-on entree "specialty" plates, fish tacos & a killer mud pie. Having an actual fish market on-site ensures that everything is fresh & tasty. & just about every night of the week they have some kind of special going on...
