Sno on the Go

Ever since the Fastfood Maven posted about Sno on the Go I've been dying to try it out! & I can definitely say I wasn't disappointed! Don't be fooled into thinking this is your average "shaved ice," because it isn't... it's so much more. The ice is shaved so thin, they can actually shape them into snow balls. Of course you can top your "snow ball" with over 20 "scrumptious" flavors (such as cotton candy, lemon-lime, watermelon or wedding cake), or try one of their "cream" flavors (praline, banana, or caramel to name a few) & there's always the "coffe house" flavors. If you are worried about your kids (or even you) spilling all over the place, they offer several "clear" flavors, & they even have a selection of "sugar-free" flavors. But, the fun doesn't have to stop there. In addition to flavors, you can top your "snow ball" with all kinds of toppings (everthing from soft serve vanilla ice cream to sweetened condensed milk), or real fruit. &, If you don't feel like creating your own concotion, try one of the pre-determined "speciality" treats. I LOVED the "tropical treat." Orange & Pineapple Sno stuffed with ice cream & strawberries, what's not to love?

Sno on the Go is located on the corner of Jeronimo & Los Alisos in the City of Mission Viejo, CA (25567 Jeronimo, Mission Viejo, CA 92691). For directions, go HERE. They are open from 11am - 9pm daily. If you go, we'd love to know what your favorite flavor combination was!

p.s. Other than the yummy treat, that definitely hit the spot on a hot summer day.... I LOVE that Sno on the Go has a drive-up window! I think everything in life should have a drive-up, it makes life sooo much easier when you have little itty bitty kids.

The Perfect Thanksgiving Ending: Dessert

So... Thanksgiving is this week. Are you ready? Already we've given you possible ideas for appetizers, soups, salads, sides as well as the turkey. All that's left to discuss is the dessert. I'm sure pumpkin pie will be on your menu, but what else? Here are some ideas just to get you going...

& here's a recipe for a new family favorite. (Don't be fooled by the name, it's delicious!)

Pumpkin Dump Cake
1 can (30-ounces) pure pumpkin
3 cups evaporated milk (about 2 cans)
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 yellow cake mix (rumor has it that it's tasty with a white cake mix too)
1 cup chopped pecans
4 eggs, well beaten
1 & 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 sticks of butter, melted

Mix pumpkin, evaporated milk, cinnamon, ginger, eggs, sugar, salt & cloves together well. Pour into a well-greased 9x13 pan. sprinkle with cake mix & drizzle with melted butter (try to cover all of the cake mix with butter), then sprinkle with the pecans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.in my personal opinion (which i know doesn't really count for much), i think it tastes best when it's well-cooled, & topped with cool whip or vanilla bean ice cream (those little black specks are the best!).

DIY Yogurt

This is the Do-It-Yourself age, why should your frozen yogurt be any different? Enter Yogurtland... a self-serve frozen yogurt store. They feature 16 different flavors that rotate on a daily-ish basis, everything from plain jane vanilla (although boring, is always my personal favorite) to cappuccino, or plain tart, & those are just a few. After filling your cup with each & every flavor your little heart desires, top it off with any (or all) of the different toppings available - everything from fresh fruit to red beans, cereal, sprinkles or gummie bears. When you're good & ready the next (& final) stop in this frozen yogurt buffet is the weighing & payment station where you will be charged $.30 for each ounce of yogurt & topping combination - not a bad deal, & very tasty too.... everyone licked their bowls clean. Find your nearest location HERE.
