Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade


Starting Wednesday, December 16th & going for five consecutive nights, ending Sunday, December 20th, 2009 The Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting their annual Christmas Boat Parade. As the website says "Join over a million viewers as you watch beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes sail along the harbor in the 100th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade."

The parade sets sail from Bay Island each night at 6:30pm & finishes at the same location at approximately 9 pm. To view the parade route & schedule go HERE. On Sunday, the final night of the parade, a special firework show will close out the parade beginning at approximately 9pm. &, Don't forgot to check out all the beautifully decorated bay side homes & businesses that surround the harbor. These people tend to "go all out with their own holiday spirit, featuring everything from roof-top animated scenes to dancing Christmas trees", all in an effort to win a coveted "Ring of Lights" award.

Newport Heights School Annual Holiday Boutique

The Holiday Season is upon us. ( Can this really be true? Excuse me while I hyperventilate for a moment!) Well, have no fear... with the holiday season, comes holiday boutiques. Get a start on your holiday shopping this weekend at the Newport Heights Elementary School's Annual Holiday Boutique. Nearly 30 different local artists are vendors selling jewelry, unique accessories, holiday items, handbags, home & garden decor, boutique clothing, children's goodies, greeting cards, stationary, stocking stuffers, gift certificates and more. Plus, you can feel good about the money you spend, your shopping helps the kids - 10% of all proceeds are being donated back to the school. Here are all the details...

Newport Beach Film Festival

Don't Forget... the Newport Beach Film Festival begins today (April 23rd) & goes until April 30th. To check the film schedule &/ or buy tickets go HERE. If you want to take your kids, you might want to check out some of "family oriented films". (To find the "family films" specifically, go the the Newport Beach Film Festival home page HERE. Click on the "festival" tab near the top of the page & then the blue "family" tab that appears, & viola!) There are also tons of FREE events happening this year, so check some of those out as well!

Newport Beach Restaurant Week (January 18-22)



I love trying new restaurants and Newport's Restaurant Week gives me the perfect excuse. About 100 eateries participate in the event to encourage people to try some of the best cuisine in southern California by offering affordable gourmet three-course, prix-fixe menus at each restaurant. Lunch is $15 or $20 and Dinner is $20 0r $35, you can go to the website for details about restaurants and pricing.

The Newport Beach Restaurant Association is proud to present Newport Beach Restaurant Week. Spanning five days in late January, Restaurant Week is a special citywide culinary celebration produced by the Restaurant Association positioning Newport Beach as Southern California’s Premier Dining Destination. Close to 100 of Newport Beach’s best eateries are expected to participate in this citywide, culinary celebration by offering delicious bargain priced three-course, prix-fixe gourmet menus for lunch and dinner.

It is a fun promotion that will attract local patrons and visitors to new and classic restaurants to sample a variety of the exceptional dishes being prepared by the best chefs in Newport Beach.
