Vietnamese Cooking Class at Xanh Bistro

I have always been interested in Vietnamese cuisine, but it always seemed to complicated to replicate on home. Luckily, I stumbled upon Slow Food OC and they offered an amazing Vietnamese Cooking Class that included a tour of a Vietnamese Market. Here is a description of the class:

Tour Vietnam Without Your Passport --this Slow Food OC sponsored tour takes you on a wonderful journey to a Vietnamese market where you learn more about the glorious produce, live seafood, and cookware; then we return to Xanh Bistro to see the exotic ingredients we purchase, transformed into delectable dishes, with a chance to taste this light and healthy yet flavorful cuisine. Come and join Chef Haley Nguyen on this exciting and educational experience. We’ll start out at a local Vietnamese market, buy the ingredients and come back to Xanh for the demonstration hands-on regional Vietnamese cooking class, then savor a scrumptious multi course dinner.

The tour with Chef Haley Nguyen was very informative and the cooking class was an absolute delight. She took the whole class back to her quaint restaurant, Xanh Bistro where we were able to cook as she demonstrated each step for us to follow to replicate her creative dishes. The result was an amazing dinner that included: spring rolls, banana blossom salad, and simmered fish in clay pot of black pepper & soy reduction. Does that sound fancy or what? The best part of the class was that Chef Haley translated complicated cuisine to easy steps and I feel confident that I could replicate the savory feast at home without too much trouble.

I can't wait to see what else slow food OC offers and to take another class with Chef Haley. You can take a Vegeterian Cooking Class this Monday or if you are just hungry for great Vietnamese food try Xanh Bistro.

xoxo, C
